The purpose of these laws is to preserve competition. These laws may affect your dealings with patients, physicians, payers, suppliers, and competitors of Banner. One application of antitrust laws is prohibition of price fixing. Price fixing is an agreement between business competitors to provide the same service at the same price. In the U.S., price fixing can be prosecuted as a criminal felony offense under the Sherman Antitrust Act. Even exchanging prices may violate antitrust laws.
