Related Conflict of Interest Policies

Title : Secondary/Additional Professional Activities and Outside Activities of Employed Practitioners Policy and Procedure Number : 3977, Version : 1 Advanced Practice Provider's clinical practice (including teaching, consulting, speaking, lecturing, writing, research, expert consultation and witness services, and the development or sale of medical, healthcare-related, nutritional, or other products related to the Employed Advanced Practice Provider's clinical practice). 3. The applicable Medical Group must give its prior written approval in each instance before an Employed Practitioner engages in any Covered Professional Activity. 4. Employed Practitioners may not enter into agreements for Primary Activities or Secondary/Additional Professional Activities in their own name or otherwise sign written agreements on behalf of Banner or any Banner entity. In order for an Employed Practitioner to be allowed to engage in a Covered Professional Activity, the proposed Covered Professional Activity must be assessed for compliance with Banner’s Covered Professional Activity philosophy, as described below. a. Will the Covered Professional Activity be of benefit to Banner and/or the applicable Medical Group? i. Will the Covered Professional Activity drive clinical excellence and innovation? ii. Will the Covered Professional Activity enhance the ability to have a highly coordinated patient experience? iii. Will the Covered Professional Activity distinguish Banner, the applicable Medical Group and the Employed Practitioner in the medical and service community? B. Engagement in Covered Professional Activities. 1.

iv. Will the Covered Professional Activity help Banner and/or the applicable Medical Group maintain strong financial performance that supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Banner and the applicable Medical Group? Will the Covered Professional Activity take the focus of the Employed Practitioner away from caring for patients of the applicable Medical Group or, in the case of B—UMG, from performing academic activities, which is the Employed Practitioner's Primary Activity? Will the Covered Professional Activity have a negative impact on Banner or the applicable Medical Group from a legal, risk, financial or compliance perspective? Will the Covered Professional Activity create a risk of liability or loss to the applicable Medical Group or to Banner or a risk of damage to the reputation, image or good standing of the applicable Medical Group or Banner in the community? Will the Covered Professional Activity be of benefit to the Employed Practitioner? i. Will the Covered Professional Activity have an impact on the Employed Practitioner's clinical excellence and innovation? Will the Covered Professional Activity result in any enhancement to a coordinated patient experience? Will the Covered Professional Activity distinguish the Employed Practitioner to the medical and service community?
