BUCS may terminate an Employed Practitioner's obligation to provide any Secondary/Additional Professional Activities at any time upon written notice to such Employed Practitioner. E. Review of Covered Professional Activities by SPAC. 1. The following procedures will apply to the review by SPAC of proposed Covered Professional Activities to be provided to an Outside Entity. For those proposed Covered Professional Activities for which review has been delegated by SPAC to another person or entity, the procedures outlined in Article IV, Section F will apply. 2. The review by SPAC of a proposed Covered Professional Activity to be provided to an Outside Entity will be initiated by sending a completed Covered Professional Activity Request Form and all requested supporting documentation to the email box designed by SPAC or by such other mechanism as SPAC may identify from time to time. 3. The chair of SPAC, or his/her designee, will review the Covered Professional Activity Request Form for completeness and may request additional information regarding the proposed Covered Professional Activity. 4. The chair of SPAC, or his/her designee also will review the Physician Payment Sunshine Act website, the Office of Foreign Asset Control website and the United States State Department website for international travel information, and any other sources that may provide additional information to SPAC in connection with a proposed Covered Professional Activity. 5. Upon confirmation of completeness, the Covered Professional Activity Request Form and any additional information will be submitted to SPAC for review. 6. In reviewing the proposed Covered Professional Activity, SPAC will consider the following factors: a. Whether the requested Covered Professional Activity relates to the Employed Practitioner's medical or clinical practice, as outlined in Article III, Section A. If the requested Covered Professional Activity does not relate to the Employed Practitioner's medical or clinical practice, no approval by SPAC is required, and the requested activity will not be considered a Covered Professional Activity to which this Policy applies. Whether the requested Covered Professional Activity is already a part of the Employed Practitioner's Primary Activities. Whether the requested Covered Professional Activity is consistent with Banner's Covered Professional Activity philosophy, as outlined in Article III, Section B.1. Whether SPAC is willing to allow the Employed Practitioner to engage in the requested Covered Professional Activity, and, if so, whether the requested Covered Professional Activity is a Secondary/Additional Professional Activity that should be provided within the scope of the Employed Practitioner's employment by the applicable Medical Group or an Outside Activity that should be provided outside the scope of the Employed Practitioner's employment by the applicable Medical Group. SPAC may seek guidance from subject matter experts on medical/clinical issues related to the requested Covered Professional Activity. 7. If the proposed Covered Professional Activity involves clinical research outside of the scope of the Employed Physician’s employment by the applicable Medical Group, and SPAC is in favor of the Employed Practitioner pursuing the proposed Covered Professional Activity, SPAC will forward the completed Covered c. d. b.
